Trojan Publishing Corp. was formed in 1937 and published pulp magazines, which generally included a comic story in black-and-white. The company filed for bankruptcy in 1951. New York courts confirmed bankruptcy arrangements which allowed the company to continue operating for another three years with a court-appointed supervisor, Stanley M. Estrow. As the company wound down publishing, some of those comic stories were colorized and reprinted in the new Trojan Magazines, Inc.'s *Crime Smashers* and *Western Crime Busters*.\r\n\r\nThe following 13 comics publishers shown in indicias and Statements of Ownership during the early 1950s were linked by owners, distributors, and editorial offices:\r\nBimfort,\r\nMaster Comics,\r\nMens,\r\nMerit,\r\nPix Parade,\r\nPremier,\r\nRibage,\r\nStamp,\r\nStory,\r\nStanhall,\r\nTrojan,\r\nWestern,\r\nYouthful\r\n\r\nThe principals behind these companies were William and Sylvia Friedman, Lew Stricof, the Estrow family, S. Wind, George Ungar, Adrian B. Lopez, and Morton Myers.  In some combination or other, they owned all these titles.  They frequently changed ownership and addresses of both publication offices and editorial offices.  Several titles were run from the same office at times or were next door to other of the titles.  Some titles moved from one publisher to another.  Researcher Bob Hughes has described the group as, “A circular group of owners hiding behind a lot of fake addresses.”\r\n\r\nMichael Estrow was the president of Leader News, the distributor of the majority of these titles, who probably provided financing as distributors often did.  At some point, Friedman-owned titles were switched to CDC distribution while the Stricof-owned titles switched to Kable News. After the Senate 'comic book' hearings in April-June 1954 (where Friedman appeared) the new company of Merit was created to help Friedman’s companies remove any taint of the hearings.  Some comic titles were moved to Merit for their final issues.\r\n\r\nIn September 1950, Trojan Magazines, Inc. becomes the fourth company of this group to publish, using a unique indicia address of 125 East 46th St, NY  NY.\r\n\r\nThere are 3 Statements of Ownership available for Trojan Magazines, Inc.  All list 125 East 46th St, NY  NY as the address, which is the same as their editorial offices per indicia.
